This is Glen and Avery reporting from Amerigo’s ship in 1501 to 1502.
Have you ever wondered who found and named America?
Amerigo Vespucci’s main destination was America. Amerigo traveled by ship with a crew in 1499. One document states that he found America days before Christopher Columbus. Though this document may have been forged. Amerigo was born in Florence, Italy in 1452. His family was very rich and Amerigo was able to get an education. Amerigo got his education in Florence, Italy. He was 47 years old when he set out on his voyage to America.
Amerigo Vespucci found that America was not Asia. That proves that he completed his expedition. He encountered native people on his expedition, but the native names were not put into the records. Amerigo went more than one time to get to America. The first time he went was on a supply ship. The second time was when he discovered that the New World was not Asia, but was present day America. Amerigo Vespucci is interesting because he went on four voyages; two for Spain and two for Portugal. Another reason he is fascinating is that he helped Christopher Columbus on his voyage. Amerigo helped Columbus on his voyages. Amerigo did not help Columbus find America. They both took their own separate voyages to try to find America.
